Terms and Conditions

  1. Courses


    1. You must be 16 years of age or over.
    2. Extra activities are subject to a minimum of 2 students. Schedule is settled by OdP and museum or concert halls entries are the students responsibility.
    3. School opens at 9h00 am and closes at 18h00. Lunch Break: 13h00 - 14h00.
    4. Each lesson consists of 55 minutes.
    5. Social activities usually start at 2,30 pm.
    6. Handouts are provided by OdP during the entire length of the course.
  2. Accommodation


    1. Students are expected to arrive on a Sunday, leave on a Saturday and stay for a minimum of one week. Accommodation will be charged on a per week basis.
    2. Students wishing to extend their accommodation after arrival at the school may do so, depending on availability of the accommodation option chosen. Always check availability directly with us at school.
    3. Meals in hostfamily option are discussed directly with each hostfamily. Both Flats and homestays are self-catered.
    4. Each student is responsible for all damages caused at his/her accommodation option.
  3. Visa - Invitation Letters


    1. OdP is available to issue invitation letters to Portuguese Embassies throughout the world. Students should contact Embassies and Consulate Sections in their regions or countries at least 2 months prior to the beginning of the course.
  4. Insurance


    1. Before you arrive in Portugal, we strongly recommend that you take out insurance for your own financial and personal security.
  5. Payments


    1. Apart from course and accommodation prices, additional fees are charged as follows:
      1. An enrolment fee of 30 EUR per student. This fee is valid for 12 months meaning that if the student enrolls in more than one course in 12 months only one enrolment fee is due.

      2. Students who DO NOT require Visa:
        1. Enrolment fee plus 10% of the total programme are required to be paid upon the confirmation of the enrolment by the school.
        2. The rest of the fees are to be paid up to 2 weeks prior to the start date of the course.
      3. Students who DO require Visa:
        1. An administrative fee of 150 EUR per invitational letter issued by OdP, when applicable (for Visa purposes).
        2. Enrolment fee, administrative fee plus 10% of the total programme are required to be paid upon the confirmation of the enrolment by the school.
        3. The rest of the fees are to be paid up to 6 weeks prior to the start date of the course.
    2. A place cannot be reserved and accommodation cannot be booked until payment of the applicable fees.
    3. All bank tranfers expenses are to be covered by the student.Whenever this is not possible, the remaining value will be paid upon arrival at school where the student will be shown official bank proof of the transfer.
    4. Transfers from airport are available. The payment of 40€ is requested upon transfer up to 4 persons.
  6. Cancellations & Refunds


    1. Enrolment fee, and administrative fee when applicable, are not refundable in any situation.
    2. In the case of a refused entry Visa, a total refund will be made except for the enrolment and administrative fees. Official proof of refusal from the Portuguese Embassy or Consulate will be required.
    3. If the student gives more than 2 weeks notice, when cancelling the programme, all tuition and accommodation will be refunded.
    4. If the student gives less than 2 weeks notice, when cancelling the programme, no refund will be made, but students who whish to defer their programme may do so at no extra cost, within a year.
    5. In all cases refunds will only be made to the individual who paid Oficina de Português for the course. Bank expenses will be charged on the student's bank account.
